Artist Statement

I am a socially engaged artist, educator, and arts advocate with a passion for arts service, a commitment to equity and justice, and a strong belief in the power of art to improve community well being. I make art to make things happen—to make experiences, to make connections, to make change. My practice is often collaborative and always multidisciplinary, incorporating writing, performance, publishing, printmaking, photography, and public art. My work can be found in a variety of contexts—on walls and library shelves, in galleries and public parks, at book fairs and art happenings. My goal is to always be learning, preferably in community, and I aspire to stay engaged, authentic, and accountable through my art practice.
